Spring into the NMDC!

There's plenty to do these school holidays at the NMDC… Meet our juvenile brown-banded bamboo sharks and try the Naturaliste Explorers Guide - a new children's book that helps you explore a range of great activities in the exhibition hall!

We also have your old favourites, including getting 'hands-on' at the rock pool and touch table, colouring in your own souvenir badge - or why not book one of our special school holiday programs, including two new ones: Hook, Line and Sinker and Magnetic Marine Messages!

There's more to fishing than just casting a line - in this workshop you will find out the different aspects of fishing to help ensure that we have plenty of fish for the future. As well as learning about recreational fishing rules and regulations, and caring for your catch and the environment, you will also discover why it's important to tie good knots and select the right rig!

Sea Monkeys Rock

What has eleven pairs of legs, three eyes and breathes through its feet? The answer is of course sea monkeys! Sea monkeys are tiny crustaceans - discover even more about these amazing little critters when you join us to see why sea monkeys rock. You even get to take your new pets home with you!

Coral Creations

What do mushroom, staghorn, brain, plate, leaf and vase all have in common? They are all types of coral! Get creative by designing and painting your own environmentally friendly carry bag to take home, while discovering more about the amazing coral reefs of Western Australia.

Magnetic Marine Messages

Get your creative juices flowing! In this crafty activity we will explore the different marine habitats that exist in Western Australia and the creatures that live in them. Then you'll be able to design and make your very own marine habitat message board for your fridge.
