Scientific Sandcastles

With the fine weather coming, it's a great time to hit the beach again!

On your next school excursion to the NMDC try a traditional hands-on activity with a difference - Scientific Sandcastles.

In Scientific Sandcastles students will visit our nearby beach within Marmion Marine Park to build sandcastles of some of WA's iconic marine species including fish, molluscs and crustaceans, which will be decorated with flotsam and jetsam. Our experienced education team will then identify the major features of these animals, discuss the importance of Marmion Marine Park and the sea life found washed up on the beach.

Working in groups, the students will help teach each other about these amazing marine creatures and at the same time encourage creativity and enhance students' learning of science.

Scientific Sandcastles is suitable for years K - 7 and is recommended as an additional activity to complement your education guided tour of the NMDC.
